A Season of Gratitude

Updated: Dec 2, 2020

Benjamin Dube sings a song entitled "Grateful" and one of the refrains says "I'm amazed at where you've brought me from, I'm amazed at where I am today, Lord I am grateful for all you've done for me."

2020 has been a year of great loss, chaos and many difficulties. Many have indicated they wish it would just leave and look toward 2021 as the year that will bring great changes to their lives. Unfortunately we don't know what that year will bring either, but the one thing that has been constant is God's faithfulness. It is very easy to complain because of the things that seem to be lacking in our lives, but when we really think about everything that God does for us even on a daily basis, it makes us be so thankful of even the littlest thing. Paul states in Philippians 4:12, "I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." Paul had learned the secret of contentment, he learned that wherever we are in life, God is the great supplier, and He can fulfill every need. From Thanksgiving to Christmas is a time of great joy because we get to eat and be merry, but it is also a time of serious reflection, for God the great sustainer has kept us for another year. No matter what we have experienced, no matter what losses we have suffered, God has been faithful to each of us. For this we express our gratitude!
