What Is This? — God Will Provide

Date: November 2, 2025

Messenger: Bishop Joseph J. Norfleet Sr.

Message Title: What Is This? — God Will Provide

Key Scriptures:

  • Exodus 16:11–25

  • Romans 8:28

  • Ephesians 3:20

  • Isaiah 55:8–9

  • 1 Kings 17:6–16

Message Overview

Bishop Norfleet reminded the congregation that God’s provision often comes in ways we do not expect or recognize. Like the Israelites who asked, “What is this?” when manna appeared, we too must learn to see God’s hand even in unfamiliar forms of blessing. The message called believers to deepen their trust, practice obedience to divine instruction, and recognize that God’s ways transcend human reasoning. What may seem confusing or inconvenient at first is often the answer we prayed for—God’s supernatural provision at work.

Key Points

1. Complications Don’t Restrict God Exodus 16:1–5

Even when life seems complicated, God remains sovereign. He doesn’t always remove burdens but makes them light so we can bear them with His help.

Takeaway: Stop magnifying the complication—magnify the God who can handle it.

2. God’s Provision May Look Unfamiliar Exodus 16:15

The Israelites didn’t recognize manna as God’s answer because it came in an unexpected form. Likewise, we often overlook blessings because they don’t fit our expectations.

Takeaway: Don’t dismiss the miracle just because it doesn’t look like one.

3. Obedience Activates the Blessing Exodus 16:19–21

God’s instructions come with His provision. When they tried to save manna against His word, it spoiled. The same happens when we operate outside of obedience.

Takeaway: Your blessing will last as long as your obedience does.

4. God’s Supply Is Always Enough Exodus 16:17–18Those who gathered much had nothing left over; those who gathered little had no lack. God’s provision perfectly fits each person’s need.

Takeaway: God customizes His supply—trust that what He gives is sufficient.

5. Recognize God in Every Season Romans 8:28; Philippians 4:19

Whether through manna, quail, or a stranger’s kindness, God’s provision always aligns with His purpose. Recognition brings relationship; when we know it’s Him, we respond with worship.

Takeaway: Learn to recognize God so you can rightly respond to Him.

6. Divine Provision Builds Faith, Not Storage Exodus 16:23–25

God commanded the Israelites not to hoard manna except on the Sabbath. His goal was to teach daily trust, not stockpiling.

Takeaway: God provides daily bread—not lifetime storage.

7. God Will Use Unlikely Means to Bless You 1 Kings 17:6–16 J

ust as He sent ravens to feed Elijah and manna for Israel, God can use unconventional sources to meet your needs.

Takeaway: Don’t limit God to your logic—He’s not bound by human thinking.

8. Recognizing God Deepens Relationship Isaiah 55:8–9

God wants to be recognized and known. When we discern His presence and follow His leading, our relationship grows stronger and our obedience swifter.

Takeaway: Recognize Him again—God is calling you into deeper relationship.
